business and education. He has created national sales and product knowledge training
programs, introduced many innovations into client organizations including cutting edge
communication training for managers, computer-based training, and internally-developed,
video-based customer service training. Dr. Hardt has been a trainer, training manager,
consultant and teacher in the field of training and performance improvement.
Dr. Hardt completed his doctorate in Education, with a specialization in training and
development from the University of Minnesota. He has trained hundreds of faculty at
Capella in online teaching methods in his position as Faculty Trainer. Dr. Hardt is a Core
faculty in the School of Education.

Dr. Hardt developed and presented the “Making Teams Work”, “Learning Organizations”,
and the “Shared Leadership” training programs which were presented to hundreds of
businesses in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. He is the author and coauthor of numerous
articles on virtual teams and distance learning. His research interests include investigating
how distance training can be linked to performance improvement methods.
