Welcome,  Minneapolis Colloquium Learners!

As you know, the schedule for colloquia, starting in Atlanta, has been shortened and condensed. This means, you need to prepare even more diligently for colloquia, then you have in the past.

Here are some links to resources you should become familiar with before the Minneapolis Colloquium. We will be discussing these resources and doing activities based on them. Preparing ahead of time will greatly enhance your colloquium experience:

Scholarly Research in T&PI

This is a three part presentation, that lays out the “groundrules” for research in our field and how to conduct it at Capella:

Part I

Part II

Part III

Example pre-proposal: Dr. Hardt’s dissertation

I wrote this article for a conference, where I presented my dissertation results. The format and scale are very close to what I would like to see in a pre-proposal. Dowload, print out, and read this paper before the colloquium. The little green bubble contain notes on how the paper is organized.  We will be discussing it, as an aid in your preparation for your own pre-proposal:

What do First-Line Leaders Need to Succeed?

Example pre-proposal: Susan Van Buren’s pre-proposal

This is a link to a pre-proposal created by Susan Van Buren, a learner who is working on her dissertation right now. This is another example of a pre-proposal we will be discussing at the colloquium. Once again, download, print out, and read this pre-proposal, before the colloqium.

“The Grammar of Performance”

This is a new Acrobat presentation I have created, which I think will help you think about your dissertation topic. I encourage you to listen to it, before the colloquium:
