T&PI Specialization Investigating ISPI Chapter
Posted by phardt on May 3rd, 2008 filed in T&PI Network4 Comments »
Learners at the Atlanta colloquium were asked if they were interested in starting a “virtual” ISPI chapter, and they said enthusiastically, “Yes!”
So, we’re investigating this idea. Thanks to learners Vicki Olund, Kim Campbell, Sue Johnstal, and all the learners at the Atlanta Colloquium for digging into this exciting idea.
Here is information from Vicki:
I spoke with Francis George, the ISPI Director of Membership. He provided me with valuable information for setting up a “virtual” chapter.
Details:
*No cost for the chapter
*Form a board (3 individuals must be ISPI members in order to be a chartered chapter…example: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
*Create a chapter website (not required, but recommended as a good practice to have a “virtual” presence)…can include a place for emails, list servs, webinars, link to ISPI, whitepapers, dissertations, whatever you want on the site.
*It’s up to the board to determine if they are going to charge their members dues (other sites have chargede $5 or $10 annually for website maintenance).
*You can create this with the sole purpose for Capella faculty and graduate and PhD learners.
*Another parameter for the website is to maintain the correct logo and the ISPI branding(yellow logo on main page….supposed Francis provided this info in the attachments, if not, he will supply it)
Example of a virtual website (Armed Forces Chapter)

Attached are information items about this. If you are interested in helping to start a chapter, post a message here.
We need at least 3-4 learners, who are already ISPI members, to get us started. Let us know, if you want to help.
T&PI Learner is a Radio Star!

Julwell Kenney, T&PI learner, was recently interviewed on the “How to Bring Out the Best In You” radio program on radio station WDJZ. Here’s what she said about the experience:
My Experience
Discussing my new book “How to Bring Out the Best in You” on WDJZ Radio talkshow Abundance with DeBoone, was a great experience. It was very enthusiastic, engaging, enriching, and empowering. As a result of the show being so empowering, the General Manager, Milford Edwards Sr., invited me to speak on his show, Community Outreach, the next day about my book as well.”
Attached is Julwell’s sellsheet and the cover of her book.
Congratulations, Julwell!

Our specialization meeting in Atlanta tackled the topic “T&PI in Schools and non-Traditional Settings.” Notes taken by Sue Johnstal, learner from Michigan, are attached.
As many of you know, “school improvement” is a hot topic right now, with a lot of focus on schools through No Child Left Behind, and other similar measures.
Also, HPI is being actively used in medical settings.
We’ll continue to address these “hot topics” at future colloquia.
Let us know what you’d like to see us take on.
